Police arrested four suspected thieves at a Goodwood mall parking lot and recovered a stolen laptop and documents before their owner even knew they were gone.
Goodwood police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis said officers had been patrolling the N1 City mall on Thursday March 29, at 2pm, when they had spotted four nervous-looking men in a white Toyota Avanza.
“When the occupants kept looking back at police, they decided to stop and search the vehicle,” said Captain Theunis.
“During the search, police found a laptop and documents inside the Avanza. The documents belonged to a person from Welgelegen and the members contacted the owner.
“The owner was shopping at N1 City at the time and realised that his Toyota Hilux was broken into. The items found in possession of the four suspects were stolen from his vehicle,” Captain Theunis said.
The four men, aged 22 to 33, were arrested and appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.
