Goodwood police, with help from the public, arrested a 31-year-old man for robbing a woman of her tablet in Fitzroy Street, on Wednesday March 8.
She had been walking down the road when three men in hoodies approached her. One of them grabbed the tablet and fled on foot, said police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis.
The woman shouted for help and people who witnessed the mugging, gave chase.
Constable Justin Mentoor, who was patrolling the area, also joined the chase, and, with help from the bystanders, arrested the suspect.
The man appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on a charge of robbery.
* In a similar incident, a 22-year old man was arrested for robbery on Thursday March 9. A woman walking in Richmond Street had her phone and wallet snatched by a man who then ran off.
People who heard the woman’s screams caught the man and recovered her belongings.
The man appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on a charge of robbery.
