Stranded cow rescued in Highbury

Highbury residents assisted a stranded cow on Friday June 2.

“A stray cow had been grazing on the river bank of the canal that runs through Highbury Park,” Wesley Prinsloo of the Kuils River Community Police Forum (CPF) said.

“The cow had walked in the canal, slipped and could not get up.”

A resident called the SPCA. Later several residents, the neighbourhood watch and members of the CPF helped the SPCA to get the stranded cow out of the canal.

The cow was taken by trailer to the SPCA hospital in Grassy Park.
