The City has advised Kraaifontein residents to stock up on water ahead of the weekend.
Mayoral committee member for area north, Suzette Little, said low water pressures might be experienced at the weekend, especially in Bloekombos
“We do not anticipate a complete supply interruption,” she said.
The low pressures will be caused by maintenance on the Wemmershoek bulk water pipeline, in the N1 freeway median near the R300 interchange. A leaking isolation valve will be removed.
“The repair requires a shutdown of the Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant and isolation of a section of the bulk water main,” Ms Little said.
The plant will be shut down for 36 hours, from Friday September 15, at 8pm, until Sunday September 17, at 8am.
“Residents are advised, as a contingency, to store drinking water ahead of time in clean and sealed containers for personal consumption,” she said.
