Two men broke into the Kuils River home of Kleinvlei police station commander Colonel Vernon Bester and stole his cellphone and unspecified jewellery last Tuesday.
Colonel Pieter Galant, who arrived at Colonel Bester’s home shortly after the early-morning break-in, said the station commander had been off sick when the burglars struck.
Colonel Galant said Colonel Bester had not seen any firearm, but the two men threatened to shoot him if he didn’t cooperate.
Colonel Bester has told his colleagues he would be able to identify the two men should they be brought in, Colonel Galant said. The burglars got in through a side sliding door and jumped over the fence when they escaped.
