Singer needs kidney transplant

Winston Moses.
Friends and family are rallying around well-known musician Winston Moses after he was diagnosed with kidney failure.

Mr Moses, of Parow, collapsed on Saturday May 18 while he was watching his son play soccer.

Fellow muso Calvin Peters of Ruyterwacht said Mr Moses only has 15% use of his kidneys and is desperately looking for a donor.

His wife Antoinette said he would now be going for dialysis.

She said Mr Moses had devoted his life to being a full-time musician and producer.

“He toured for years as a vocalist and sang with some popular bands. He still performs as a vocalist in the band Encore. He works in his studio creating and producing so many people’s albums, backing tracks, voice overs and advertisements.”

Mr Moses has been described as a versatile musician.

“He is the best vocalist I know! And don’t forget he is also a devoted father to his two children and loves soccer,” said
Antoinette.

She said the news of his kidney failure came as a huge shock to everybody who knew him.

“Who would have expected this to happen at the age of 47 to someone that doesn’t even drink and smoke? He still has so much left to do and to achieve.”

Mr Peters and other musicians are planning a show in honour of Mr Moses but no date has been set as they are busy crowd-funding.

Money raised at the event will go towards medical costs and day-to-day living expenses.

“I have known him for over 25 years and this comes as a shock to me,” said Mr Peters.

He appealed to all musicians, club owners and the music loving public to support this worthy cause. Musicians who want to perform at the show and people who can help with donations can contact Mr Peters on 082 950 8625 or email info@unclecalmusic.com
