Robbery suspects caught in Goodwood

A Goodwood police officer arrested four males who allegedly robbed a woman in Voortrekker Road late on Sunday November 5.

Goodwood police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis said the officer had been patrolling the area close to midnight when a woman reported that she had been robbed after stopping her car.

Four suspects had jumped out of a BMW, threatened her with a knife and taken two cellphones, cash and a handbag.

The officer had then spotted a BMW matching the description of the suspects’ car in Parow.

“He followed the vehicle to Goodwood and pulled it over. During the search, he found all the stolen property,” Captain Theunis said.

The suspects were aged between 15 and 32.

* Police arrested a man, 31, on Saturday, for stealing a car wheel.

Captain Theunis said a man had reported the theft of the left front wheel from his VW Golf, in Riebeeck Street.

“The victim said he saw his wheel on a car of a tenant where he stays.

“He identified his wheel by the unique wheel nuts.”

* Goodwood police have warned that jamming devices are being used to steal and break into cars.

* Parow police have warned of a spike in vehicle thefts in the area.
