Robbers hijack cigarette van


A gun stolen in Kraaifontein was confiscated by police in crime-ravaged Manenberg on Thursday April 7, according to police.

The police said the glock pistol had ben stolen in Kraaifontein, but would not say when.

* Police detained a 20-year-old man on Friday April 8 following his alleged involvement in the hijacking of a cigarette vehicle at the Fairbridge mall in Brackenfell that morning.

Police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Erica Crous said the vehicle had been making deliveries just before 9am, when a gold-coloured Honda Ballade with four armed men made a sudden stop next to it, got out and bundled the driver to the back of the truck.

The men then drove off to Walliam Dabs Road, where they met suspected accomplices in a White Isuzu LDV and a Toyota Camry, Warrant Officer Crous said. She said the men then emptied the LDV and fled the scene, leaving behind the truck driver and the vehicle.
