Police have arrested a Scottsville man after making a R1.2 million drug haul.

Officers were tipped off about drugs being held at a Titus Street property, according to Kraaifontein police spokesman Captain Hein Hendricks.

While searching the property, on Wednesday June 26, police found 30 bags containing 30 000 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R1.2 million.

“The 33-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Kraaifontein police station on possession-of-drugs charges.

“He will appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged,” Captain Hendricks said.

When questioned further, he said: “This is a sensitive topic, and police are not allowed to divulge information on whether or not this is gang related.”

Clemen Solomans, of the community police forum, said: “The community is sick and tired of drugs being brought into our community. Our community is at a breaking point and have given up all hope.

“They feel that the police can do more.

“But saying this, the community is familiar with who the culprits are; we are hoping for more tip-offs.”
