Brackenfell police arrested three suspected drug dealers and seized 52 bags of dagga from a truck parked in Viben Avenue last week.
According to police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous, officers were on a routine patrol in Brackenfell Industrial when they noticed a truck, two Suzuki cars and a Toyota Avanza parked in a cul-de-sac in Viben Avenue.
“The boot of one vehicle was open and bags were being loaded into it. When the unknown men saw the police vehicle, they ran in all directions, and one vehicle sped away. Three suspects – aged 26, 29 and 32 – were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs and for possession of a hijacked vehicle,” she said.
The seized dagga weighed 640kg, she said. The Suzukis left at the scene were also seized. One of the cars was stolen in a hijacking in Khayelitsha earlier this month.
