Bellville police’s month-long search for the mother of an abandoned baby continues, and they are asking for the public to help with their investigation.
The newborn baby boy was found abandoned in Karoo street, Oakdale by residents, on Saturday October 2, at 7am, police say. It was unharmed, in good health and wrapped in a white-and-grey blanket. A green jacket was found nearby.
“A case of child abandonment was registered,” said provincial police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk.
The Bellville Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has asked the public to help identify the baby and his parents or other relatives.
Anyone with information can contact Detective Sergeant Reginald Wakefield at 073 511 5824 or 021 590 1001.
