Police investigating vehicle thefts in Durbanville

Police are investigating a spate of vehicle thefts in the Durbanville area.

In the latest incident, a 76-year-old woman was hijacked at her Louw Street home.

She was cleaning her garage on Monday December 6, when a man accosted her and grabbed her car keys.

“He drove off with her car, which was found abandoned in Rawsonville,“ said Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchell Rhode.

The woman’s left leg was slightly injured. The perpetrator is still at large.

In other incidents, a red Honda Elite scooter was taken from underground parking in High Street, Rosenpark, on Wednesday November 17; a Venter trailer was stolen from a house in Schabort Street, Eversdal, on Thursday November 18; a courier’s VW Polo was snatched while she was delivering newspapers in Mauritius Street, Stellenberg, on Saturday November 20; another VW Polo was taken from Schabort Street, on Sunday November 28; and a Toyota Tazz was stolen in Antoinette Street, Amanda Glen, on Sunday December 5.
