A police helicopter patrolling the skies over the northern suburbs for three days had some residents spooked.
“There is a chopper flying up and down around the mosque side… it’s making me extremely nervous. Anyone perhaps know anything?” a woman posted on the Northpine Facebook page.
Another said: “It’s been this side also for a while in Scottsville.”
One person referred to a rumour that someone had been thrown off the R300 bridge, but Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous said that rumour was false.
She said the helicopter had circled the skies on Wednesday and Thursday nights and again on Friday morning to “assist residents who had house break-ins during the night”.
