Brackenfell police’s dog unit arrested four suspected hijackers last week.
Officers were patrolling Old Paarl Road on Friday February 17, at 7.30am, when a resident alerted them to a car parked in the same road near a bank.
The officers called for back-up and went to investigate.
There were four men in the parked silver Toyota Tazz; police told them to get out and searched the car.
The officers found two guns in the car.
“Both firearms’ serial numbers were filed off,” said police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk.
The car was linked to a hijacking in Delft earlier this month.
The men, who were from Philippi and Delft, were all 26 years old apart from one who was 30.
They were arrested and detained for possession of illegal firearms and hijacking and appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 20.
