Firefighters
battled a massive blaze at a warehouse in Parow, today, Monday September 28.
An 38-year-old employee suffered second-degree burns to his arms and legs, and two trucks on the premises in Shelsdon Street, Beaconvale, were
destroyed in the blaze, according to the City’s Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, Jermaine Carelse.
More than 30 firefighters from Epping, Goodwood and Belhar had been at the
scene from 11.28am, he said. The fire was extinguished just before 3pm.
“The cause of the fire has not been determined,” said Mr Carelse.
Northern News tried contacting John Barnes, the managing director of the sand-and-gravel supplier that owns the warehouse, but he was not available for comment at the time.
