Police have arrested three men and recovered stolen goods, following a spike in Parow burglaries in recent weeks.

Parow police spokesman Captain Kevin Williams said officers responded to a panic alarm at Hofmeester Street Tuesday August 14 at 12.30pm.

“On arrival, police discovered a white Kia Rio with a man standing next to it and two other men carrying a flat-screen TV off the premises. Police tried to stop the men but as soon as they noticed the cops they off they sped off,” he said.

Captain Williams said officers chased the car and called for back-up.

“The men abandoned the vehicle in Coronation Road in Ravensmead and fled on foot. Police gave chase and arrested the men shortly afterwards,” he said.

The officers recovered four flat screens from the Kia Rio and burglary tools, including a 5kg hammer, two screwdrivers, a multitool, a knife and gloves.

Captain Williams said the suspects, aged 20 to 22 and from Delft, Kewtown and Khayelitsha, appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Thursday August 16.
