A City of Cape Town naming committee has recommended that an area in Kraaifontein’s Zoo Park be called Dog Zoo Park.
The Zoo Park Neighbourhood Watch held a community picnic at the park in January, when residents agreed on the name.
According to the City, most of those who took part in the public participation process in June had supported the proposal.
“Should the mayor agree with the proposal and should full council concur, signage will be installed at the fenced area of Zoo Park, indicating that the area is called Dog Zoo Park. The signage will also confirm that dogs need not be on a leash and can run free,” said Brett Herron, mayoral committee member for transport and urban development and the chairman of the committee.
