Police arrested nine men after an armed robbery in Brackenfell Industria.
According to Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous, eight men entered an online company’s pick-up facility in Chrome Street, Brackenfell Industria, on Monday October 14 and ordered staff, at gunpoint, into a back room.
The ninth man stayed in the getaway vehicle.
The robbers took cash, cell- phones and various undisclosed items in sealed boxes.
“No shots were fired, and nobody was injured during the robbery,” said Captain Crous.
The robbers fled in a black Colt bakkie. Flying Squad officers later spotted a vehicle matching that description on the R300.
“The vehicle sped away at a high speed when they spotted the police vehicle, and a high-speed chase ensued. Back-up was called, and the vehicle was pulled off by SAPS members on the R300 by the N2 turn-off,” said Captain Crous.
When police searched the bakkie, they found a gun, 10 bullets, cellphones and goods matching the description of those that had been stolen.
The nine suspects are due to appear Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday October 23.
Police have arrested two men who allegedly tried to steal a trailer from a home in Protea Heights.
According to Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous, the suspects, aged 24 and 48, pulled up next to the Taaibos Close house in a white Isuzu bakkie, on Thursday morning October 17.
“They attempted to steal a trailer which was standing behind a steel gate,” she said.
But Sector 2 commander Sergeant Kobus Grobler, who was patrolling the area, spotted the suspects and arrested them.
The men had tried to steal the same trailer earlier this month, when a domestic worker had taken down the registration number of the suspects’ bakkie, said Captain Crous.
