Mugger steals bicycle at gunpoint

A mugger pulled a gun on a 10-year-old schoolboy and stole his mountain bike last week.

According to Kraaifontein police spokesman Captain Hein Hendricks, the boy and his 13-year-old sister were on their way to school in Windsor Park on Wednesday July 24, when the man jumped them on the corner of Darwin and Selbourne streets.

The mugger rode off on the boy’s 24-inch black-and-purple, 21-speed Raleigh mountain bike worth R2 000.

* Soldiers cornered a 21-year-old suspected drug dealer in a raid on a Mduli Street house, in Wallacedene, on Thursday, July 25.

According to Captain Hendricks, soldiers were tipped off about drug dealing at the house. They searched it and found 97 mandrax tablets and 35 packets of tik worth R5 000.

Kraaifontein police arrested the man.
