Motorists advised to use other routes during Elsie road resurfacing

The City has advised motorists to use other routes while a section of Industrial Ring Road in Elsies River is being resurfaced.

The City has started resurfacing a section of Industrial Ring Road in Elsies River, at a cost of almost R6 million.

The work along a 1km stretch of the road is expected to be done by mid-August, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes, says the City.

“Roadworks are scheduled to take place at night from 6pm until 6am. It is part of routine maintenance and includes the milling of the existing road surface and replacing it with a new asphalt road surface,” said mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas.

Work would take place at night to minimise inconvenience to motorists and residents, he said.

“However, residents can expect a level of noise pollution during this time but we appeal to residents to bear with us during the construction period.”

Traffic moving in both directions will be affected but flagmen will direct traffic through temporary detours.
