Goodwood police pulled over a reckless driver on Monday February 22, around 8pm, on Giel Basson Drive after a complaint of a suspicious bakkie in the area.
Lieutenant Waynne Theunis, the communications officer at Goodwood police station, said when Sergeant André Brandt and Constable Siyabonga Sobusa questioned the occupants in the bakkie, they apparently said they had found the bakkie in a bush in Kraaifontein, and were taking one of the men to Tygerberg Hospital.
The bakkie was found to have been stolen in Brackenfell.
The three men aged 22, 38 and 39 were arrested and appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.
* On the same day Goodwood police followed up information about a business robbery at a clothing shop in Voortrekker Road, Goodwood. Lieutenant Theunis said according to an eyewitness, a man broke into the shop and fled in a white Toyota taxi.
Police followed up information that led them to Mitchell’s Plain, where they found the owner of the taxi who gave them details of the driver.
After visiting four addresses in Mitchell’s Plain, they found the 38-year-old driver and confiscated the stolen clothing and shoes from his house.
He was due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.
