The province’s 2017 matric pass rate has risen from 82.8% to 84.3% after the counting of supplementary-exam results and re-marks.
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) said 933 candidates had passed the supplementary examinations written in February and March, while 105 had passed after applying for re-marks.
“This means that an additional 1 038 candidates have now achieved their National Senior Certificate for 2017,” said the WCED.
It said 194 candidates who had written the supplementary exams and 81 pupils who had had re-marks had achieved a Bachelor’s pass.
Candidates who have yet to receive their results via the post can call the WCED certification/examinations division at 021 467 2000.
Candidates who did not pass, have until Thursday May 31 to register for the 2018 NSC examinations.
