A 37-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries when he fell from a roof in Kuils River on Wednesday March 21. The man had been helping a neighbour to put out a fire when he fell from the roof.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene around 3.15pm and found the man had sustained moderate injuries to his leg and foot.
He was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Theo Layne said they had responded to a report of a fire, in Van Der Heever Street, Soneike, around 2.36pm
“One thatch roof of a lapa was alight and subsequently extinguished,” he said.
“One adult male had fallen through the roof of the lapa and sustained injuries.”
He added that two fire engines and one rescue vehicle had been dispatched to the scene of the fire,
the cause of which is still undetermined.
