Three men, aged 34, 36 and 41, were arrested on charges of being in possession of presumed stolen property, including a police bulletproof vest, car breaking tools, an imitation firearm, and impersonating a police officer, the City’s Metro Police said.
This came after the officers spotted a suspicious man getting into a black VW Golf while on patrol in the vicinity of Zone 14 informal settlement in Bellville just before 8am on Friday November 8.
“They pulled over the vehicle, and one of the three occupants was found wearing a police-issued bullet proof vest, and in possession of an imitation firearm. Officers also found tools used to break into vehicles, and a car radio in the vehicle,” said Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons.
She said the vehicle was impounded and it was later found that the bulletproof vest had been reported stolen in Gqeberha.
