A man found hiding in the yard of a Kraaifontein home on Friday was arrested and charged with trespassing.
According to Verena Hulme, district manager for Fidelity ADT, an Uitzicht resident activated the panic alarm at about 11pm on Friday May 6.
The Cannes Street resident told the security officers that a man had been spotted on the property.
“The suspect was soon found where he was hiding, and apprehended,” Ms Hulme, northern district manager for Fidelity ADT, said.
Provincial police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the man appeared in the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday May 9.
Ms Hulme said: “I urge all home owners to regularly test their home security systems to make sure they are working properly. Testing is easy and quick, and will put you at ease with the knowledge that your security company will receive your call for help in case of an emergency.”
