Loevenstein rapper Lola Williams has been nominated for the Female Artist of the Year award for the Cape Town Artist Awards taking place in Woodstock in December.
“The Cape Town Artist Awards aim to acknowledge and honour the achievements of individuals and groups who have enriched the local arts and entertainment scene,” said Tsetsefly Moskito, one of the Cape Town Artist Awards organisers. “It was founded to provide a platform to showcase and celebrate the diverse array of artistic talent within the Cape Town community,” he said.
Earlier this year, Williams released her album, Star, which is available on all streaming platforms.
The rapper said being a nominee for the award was nerve-racking. “It’s one thing to be good at what you do, but when it comes to being nominated and getting votes from the public, that is out of my control and is all up to the support and your fan base.
“It does still mean so much to me because I’m able to look back at how I started and where I’m at now. To be able to be involved in opportunities like the Cape Town Artist Awards and being recognised for my music feels really good and rewarding.”
She has also been nominated for the Music Video of the Year and Feature of the Year for the Public Health Entertainment Awards taking place in Paarl.
