Langverwacht Road in Kuils River will be closed from Wednesday September 19 until Wednesday October 3 due to roadworks.
The road will have to be closed in two phases. Firstly, the movement into Langverwacht Road from Van Riebeeck will be closed and once the infrastructure has been installed and the road surface reinstated, the second closure can be undertaken.Â
The movement out of Langverwacht Road into Van Riebeeck Road will be closed in order to complete this installation.
Traffic moving in an eastbound and westbound direction on Langverwacht Road will be affected.
Mayoral committee member for transport and urban development, Brett Herron said, “The Van Riebeeck Road/Langverwacht Road/Station Street project is progressing fairly well. However, we have encountered numerous services which must be accommodated as part of the project. We are mindful that road closures always come with some inconvenience, but I urge residents and motorists to exercise caution and patience during the construction period. The closure is temporary but the works will benefit both the residents and motorists for many years to come.”
During the temporary lane closures, no traffic will be able to travel between Van Riebeeck Road and Marais/Harry Street, except for local residents and traffic entering /exiting at the retail stores.
Alternative routes to access Langverwacht Road and Van Riebeeck Road are available via Gebhardt Street, Silveroaks Avenue, Bosonia Street, Carinus/Church Street, Skyvue Drive and Amandel Road. Road closure signage and detour boards will be erected to direct vehicles accordingly.
