Kraaifontein murder suspect found in Eastern Cape

A 22-year-old Kraaifontein man wanted for murder was found in Centane in the Eastern Cape last week.

Kraaifontein police collected the suspect at Butterworth police station on Monday, July 20, and he is being held at Kraaifontein police holding cells until his first court appearance at Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Thursday July 23.

According  to Kraaifontein police spokesman Captain Hein Hendricks, the suspect is being charged for murder after he allegedly shot and killed a 15-year-old girl in Nqakulu Street, Wallacedene, on Tuesday, July 7.

“She was returning from visiting friends with the suspect and three other friends. The suspect shot and killed the victim after she refused to go with him to his residence in the presence of the other witnesses. But he then fled the scene,” he said.

Captain Hendricks said the suspect led police to a house in Andries Street, Wallacedene, where a 32-year-old man was found with 12 rounds of ammunition and arrested.

Police are still looking for the murder weapon, said Captain Hendricks.
