The sixth Tygerberg Heritage Festival takes place on Saturday October 13, and its talent show is expected to be a major drawcard.
The show,Tygerberg’s Talent 2018, will be at the Goodwood civic centre, from 1pm to 4pm.
The last round of auditions was held at Middestad Mall, on Saturday September 8.
The one-day festival is organised annually by Bold Moves, MES, Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District (VRCID) and the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP).
The line-up includes a mini African fashion show featuring up-and-coming models, a heritage quiz and an open-mic session.
The winner of the talent show will walk away with R3 000.
There’s R2 000 for the runner-up ad R1 000 for the second runner up.
Other prizes include one-year music-recording contract; a one-year mentorship prize sponsored by Bold Moves and a three-month technical (music) course sponsored by Collective Arts Theatre.
Anthea Oostendorf, acting marketing manager of N1 City Mall, said the festival would “break down walls and build bridges” in the community. Festival director Kemi Adebayo said the event promoted “cultural diversity and racial reconciliation in the Tygerberg area”.
