The sixth Tygerberg Heritage Festival will be held over six days spanning September and October.
The annual festival celebrates the Tygerberg’s cultural diversity while promoting racial reconciliation and social cohesion. “Through the Tygerberg Heritage Festival, we continue to work with our partners to create an inclusive society and positively transform our communities” said Kemi Adebayo, of Bold Moves, a social-upliftment organisation, which organises the festival along with MES, the Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District and the Great Tygerberg Partnership.
The festival starts with a talent show, Tygerberg’s Talent 2018.
The first audition is at the Middestad Mall, on Saturday September 8, from 10am to 2pm.
The second audition is at N1 City Mall, Goodwood, on Saturday September 22 from 10am to 2pm.
There will also be an audition, specifically for high school pupils from the Tygerberg area, at Parow High School on Friday September 28, from 9am to 11am.
“The festival helps inspire, connect, strengthen and celebrate the diverse communities, businesses and organisations in the Tygerberg area,” said Warren Hewitt, of the Greater Tygerberg Partnership.
“The partnership with local businesses and community organisations is strong and continues to grow each day.
“We are particularly delighted this year to have N1 City Mall on board as one of our festival supporters.”
There is a R3 000 prize for the talent show winner, R2 000 for the first runner-up and R1000 for the second runner-up.
The festival day and talent show finals will take place at the Goodwood civic centre on Saturday October 13, from 1pm to 4pm.
The Tygerberg All Nations Five A Side Football Tournament will take place at the Bellville Sports grounds, on Sunday October 14, from 2pm to 5pm.
The festival ends with the final event, Tygerberg’s Let’s Talk & Awards Ceremony 2018, at Sanlam, Bellville, on Sunday October 28, from 2pm to 5pm.
