Parow West Neighbourhood
Watch is inviting residents to donate a plate of Sunday lunch to help a neighbour in need on Easter Sunday.
The community-building lunch is targeted particularly the elderly,
the frail and unemployed and anyone who is struggling during this time of lockdown.
Group
members can nominate individuals or families, but they must have made contact
with them to let them know that their plight will be shared with the street administrators.
Chairman Shakir “Shrek” Smith says it would be great if each street could complete their list of people as soon as possible.
The idea is for
families who can afford it to make an extra plate or two when they make their
own lunch on Sunday.
Ready-made
meals will be collected between 11am and 1pm on Sunday April 12 so they can be
distributed in time for lunch. Contributors should plate the individual meals
in plastic or paper plates, cover with cling wrap or foil and put in a plastic
bag. Volunteers will be wearing gloves when handling the collections and
observing physical distancing. The watch committee request that everyone
observe all preventive precautions when making and packing their contributions.
