Nearly half of the arrests in Kuils River and surrounds last week were drug-related and drugs, including cocaine, with a street value of hundreds of thousands of rands, were confiscated in several busts.
Kuils River police spokeswoman Sergeant Liesel Beukes said 499 people had been arrested in the Blue Downs cluster, of which 173 of the arrests were drug-related and 42 were people who were wanted by police.
Police searched 89 homes for drugs and confiscated 278 litres of liquor, 101 cocaine bullets with a street value of R80Â 000, R70Â 000 worth of mandrax and nearly R14Â 000 worth of tik. Nearly R16Â 000 worth of dagga was also confiscated.
* On Thursday September 21 a woman was shot dead in Bernadino Heights. Provincial police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said police were investigating a case of murder after the 28-year-old woman was shot in Victory Drive.
The next day, also in Kraaifontein, a 26-year-old man was fatally wounded in a shooting incident in Scottsdene, provincial police spokeswoman Sinathi Joni, said.Â
Ms Joni said the man was shot and died on Friday September 22, at just after 5pm.Â
No one has been arrested, she said.
