The Greater Tygerberg Partnership held a coffee morning and discussion at the Parow library on Friday July 22 to chat about Parow’s future development plans.
Jodie Allemeier, from the Western Cape Economic Development Partnership, who facilitated the discussion, said partnerships were essential for successful projects.
Partnerships, she noted, were built around common agendas, joint accountability and a culture of collaboration; and a readiness assessement laid the foundation for a strong one, because it identified the vision and all those who could help to achieve it.
Kirsten Sloth-Neilson, the GTP programme manager, said making Parow a safe place to live and play, creating work opportunities and attracting business were some of the goals they had set for the area.
She said they had started the Parow station art arcade as well as a property development support service, which helps potential investors, developers and property owners.
The vision for the next year, said Ms Sloth-Neilson, was to have regular coffee mornings and discussions and community clean-ups. The GTP also wanted to establish a Parow arcade building owners’ association and further research the area’s social and cultural realities.
