GrandWest has re-opened for most-valued guests only. Cars lined up outside the complex on Tuesday June 30 waiting for the gates to be unlocked.
Graham Wood, chief operating officer for Sun International Hospitality, says only members of their loyalty programme – most valued guests – will be allowed onto the casino floor for the foreseeable future, and guests will have to complete a medical-screening questionnaire in advance of their visit. On arrival, they will need to wear masks and have their temperatures checked.
Other safety measures include restricted tables and slot machines and shields between slot machines and seats at gaming tables. Every second slot machine has been disabled to ensure physical distancing between guests on the casino floor.
Mr Wood says Sun International‘s restaurants, as well as those belonging to third-party concessionaires, will open with reconfigured layouts to comply with physical distancing rules. They will not serve alcohol, he says, in line with current regulations. Some may not reopen immediately, or may open only at certain times. Many entertainment facilities at casino properties might also remain closed for now, says Mr Wood.
