Police called last rounds for a man who burgled a pub in Vootrekker Road, Goodwood, in the early hours of Wednesday July 6.
Warrant Officer Jacques Pieters and Constable Monique Pieter responded to call-out at Tickey’s Sports Bar, at about 4am, where they found the door had been forced open.
According to Goodwood police spokesman, Captain Waynne Theunis, the officers found a 22-year-old man under the pool table with bags full of cigarettes and liquor.
He appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Friday July 8.
* Just minutes, earlier, at 3.30am, Goodwood police arrested three men for hijacking a motorist and then burgling his home.
Warrant Officer Jacques Pieters, Constables Thabo Lesiea and Nkukulelo Jele were in Surrey Street, Goodwood, when they spotted a Mercedes Benz that had been stolen during an earlier hijacking in Parow. After being advised that the hijackers had abandoned the vehicle and were walking towards Vootrekker Road, the officers arrested three men, aged 24, 25 and 30, in Surrey Street, who were later identified as the hijackers.
Captain Theunis said the three had asked the owner of the car for a lift and then threatened him with a knife before throwing him out of his car.
They had then driven to his house where they broke in and stole electrical appliances.
Captain Theunis said it is believed the three men followed the man from his house before asking for a lift. The three men appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Friday July 8 on charges of hijacking and housebreaking. Captain Theunis said none of the stolen goods had been recovered.
