A notorious gang member has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a rival gang member in Kraaifontein in 2018, police say.

Lance Olivier, 28, who is associated with the 27’s-affiliated Skhombiso gang, was sentenced in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Thursday November 25, according to provincial police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.

Olivier was convicted for killing a 19-year-old man on April 24 2018. The man had been riding his bicycle when Olivier ambushed him and shot him in the back several times while chasing him home, where he fired more shots at the victim, said Warrant Officer Swartbooi.

Olivier was arrested in May 2018 and convicted on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
