Two people have been shot dead and two others have been stabbed to death in Kraaifontein in less than a week.
A man shot a woman inside an Acuba Street house in Zonnendal on Wednesday morning September 27 before he was shot by the police, according to Titanium Securitas, a security firm.
“It is believed that the male shot the woman inside the house, and she succumbed to her injuries. The male proceeded to threaten the police (with a gun). He was fatally wounded and succumbed to his injuries,” the company said in a statement.
Provincial police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said Kraaifontein police were investigating a murder and had also opened an inquest into a fatal shooting in connection with the incident in Zonnendal.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are the subject of a police investigation, and the finer aspects of the case will not be divulged to the media at this premature stage,” he said.
Meanwhile, police found the body of a man in Hani Street, Wallacedene, on Sunday morning. He had been stabbed in the head, said Sergeant Twigg.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.”
On Tuesday, a man died after being attacked in Pioneer Road, Scottsville.
“Police members were called to the crime scene where they found the victim with multiple injuries. He was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. A murder case was registered for investigation. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” Sergeant Twigg said.
An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said the man was suspected of being involved with drugs and had been ambushed by a group of people armed with pangas and knives.
