The Sonstraal District of Girl Guides South Africa is looking for former teddies, brownies, rangers and guides to join them at their reunion afternoon tea on Saturday July 29 at the Voortrekker Hall in Kenridge, at 2.30pm.
The aim of Girl Guides is to empower girls and women to reach their fullest potential through various leadership programmes.
The girls are divided into various groups according to their ages. Teddies are from the age of four and a half to seven; brownies are from seven and a half to 10; and the rangers are from 10 to 14 years old.
The Sonstraal District is currently made up of two groups who meet weekly, in Durbanville and Kenridge. Sonstraal district commissioner Moyra Roux has been involved with the Girl Guides for the past 20 years.
Ms Roux said the reunion was an opportunity to get all past and present members together to catch up and reminisce. Past members from Bellville, Brackenfell, Durbanville, Kenridge, Kraaifontein and Kuils River are invited to attend the reunion.
The Girl Guides are collecting items for the Little Fighters Cancer Trust’s charity shop until the end of the year as part of their community service project. They will also be hosting their annual biscuit sale at Willowbridge Mall on Saturday August 5 to raise funds for their Santa Shoebox project.
The Durbanville group meet on a Monday and Wednesday at the Durbanville Kraaifontein Scout Hall, while the Kenridge Group meets on a Friday at the Guide Hall at Kenridge Primary School.
