Flakka awareness

“Say yes to life and no to drugs,” was the message from Parow police spokesman Captain Kevin Williams when he gave a video presentation on flakka, the so-called zombie drug, to metro police and law enforcement officers last week.

Speaking to the officers in Bonteheuwel, on Friday November 24, Captain Williams said those using the drug became a danger to themselves and to others in their community. “The street value of this drug is R150 a hit and remains in the bloodstream for close to five days.

“The users exhibit out-of-control behaviour and some people develop Herculean strength,” he said.

The drug was developed in the 1960s and is commonly referred to as “flakka”, “gravel” or “the zombie drug”. To find out more about Captain Williams’s awareness talks, call him at 082 499 4056.
