Police have arrested two women and three men on murder charges after a dead man was found on a farm in Brackenfell .
A passer-by found the body on the Bottelary Road farm on Sunday morning May 28. It appeared he had been bludgeoned to death.
Police identified the corpse after the family of a 55-year-old Kraaifontein man reported him missing on Wednesday May 31.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the five suspects – the two women, aged 42 and 23, and three men, aged 18, 35 and 29, are all from Kraaifontein.
All five appeared at the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Monday June 5.

On Tuesday May 30, dog unit officers discovered a warehouse in Stikland containing boxes of expensive whiskey, champagne and red wine, possibly destined for export.
Police found the liquor, valued at R300 000 after investigating a man arrested for illegal possession of abalone (“Abalone bust on Old Paarl Road,” Northern News, May 31).
“The liquor, was seized and additional charges, under the Western Cape Liquor Act 4 of 2008, are to be instated against the suspect,” Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous said.
In a second incident, police acting on a tip off found 1069 bottles of liquor – some 3000 litres – being kept at a storage facility in Silwer Street, Brackenfell Industrial.
Officers arrested a 44-year-old Kraaifontein man on Saturday June 2 for storing liquor without a licence or permit.
He appeared in Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Monday June 5.
