Eight Kraaifontein actors in Baxter play

A show boasting eight Kraaifontein theatre talents is coming to the Baxter Threatre this spring.

Blood on the Road is a play about a couple reflecting on their lives before their marriage, and past secrets, according to UCT spokeswoman Jade Adams.

It is one of four winning productions being staged during the Baxter’s Zabalaza Season of the Best, Masambeni!, formerly known as the Best of Zabalaza, in the Golden Arrow Studio, from Tuesday September 7 to Saturday September 18, with performances at 10am and 11.30am and double-bill evening performances at 6.30pm and Saturday matinees at 2pm.

The other three plays selected from the main Baxter Zabalaza Theatre Festival in March, are Heads or Tail(s), Thank you for your Service and Ganga Nyoko! Inzima Nyoko!.

The Kraaifontein performers appearing in Blood on the Road are Olwethu Thwetsha, Thethelela Clement Mgumbi, Wendy Mrali, Emihle Makinana, Azaxole Mtholo, Anda Ngeva, Siseko Linden Ntshaba and Aphiwe Thunya.

Thwetsha and Mgumbi are in the lead roles with Thwetsha also directing.

Ticket prices for the Baxter’s Zabalaza Season of the Best, Masambeni! are R85 for the double-bill and R45 for the single shows, with special discounted rates for schools.
