Durbanville library burgled

Police are investigating a burglary at Durbanville library in which five computers were stolen.

Area north Mayco member Suzette Little said someone broke in through a side window between Saturday April 7 after 1pm and Monday April 9 at about 7.45am.

The five Lenova computers are worth R55 000, according to Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchelle Rhode.

The public responded with shock and anger to a notice on the library’s Facebook page about the burglary.

Isabel Rafael said: “What sad news. Really hope they’re able to catch the culprits.”

Yolinda Olivier said: “Who steals from a library? That is just ridiculous.”

The library was closed on Monday morning while police investigated but it was open again by 5pm. Ms Little said the library had a day-shift security guard and an alarm system.
