The Feathers Boutique Lodge in Durbanville has won the Lilizela Tourism Award for the best four star hotel in South Africa.
Mariaan Loubsher, general manager of Feathers, said the hotel was proud of the accolade.
She said that for the past five years the hotel had either been a national finalist of provincial winner.
“We are also rated number 2 on TripAdvisor and have been in the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame for the past six years for service excellence. More accolades include a constant 9.3 rating on Booking.com, winning an award for being voted the Best Luxury Business Hotel in 2018 by the Luxury Travel Guide Awards as well as Top Destination Awards.”
When asked for the secret of the 21-year-old hotel’s success, Ms Loubsher said the staff and management all shared the same passion and goals not only for the business but for the area.
“When looking at supply and demand, occupancy figures, stats an facts and even competition, you can clearly see a need especially for the business-travel market in this area. Inbound travellers coming to SA for a second time do not want to experience the hustle and bustle of town again. This is the market that wants to experience the more quiet areas, but with quick and easy access to tourist attractions. Naturally, this area is also more affordable that your high-end tourist destinations.” Â
