The Durbanville Junior Majorettes squad has taken several first places in a national competition.
The Federation of Dance Drill, Cheerleading and Majorette Sport South Africa (FDDCMSA) competition was held in Pretoria from Thursday June 27 to Wednesday last week.
In the Junior Small Drill category, the squad came first overall and took first place in the Leader, Sub-leaders and Display sections and second in the Squad section.
In the Junior Large Drill category, the squad came first overall and took first place in the Leader, Sub-leaders and Squad sections and second for Display.
The team also came first in the Mace Mini, Pom Mini, and Large Flag Group categories and second in the Flag Mini and Non-Prop Mini categories.
“They all competed and performed every display at nationals with so much heart, passion and soul and the results are evident of this,” said head coach Nicky Metcalf.
FDDCMSA spokesperson Yvonne Viljoen said 59 teams and 1062 drummies from across the country competed.
