‘Drug mule’ arrested

Parow police arrested a 25-year-old woman they say was about to courier a box of drugs to a small Cape Winelands town.

Parow police spokesman Captain Kevin Williams said an officer acting on a tip-off about a suspicious box at a business premises found 100 mandrax tablets, valued at R5 000, inside it.

“The suspect, 25, from Elsies River was then called to collect her package. She came and upon receiving
the packet, Sergeant Cupido was there to arrest her for the possession of drugs. It was later found that box containing drugs was destined for Saron,” he said.

She appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Friday November 16 on drug-related charges.

Goodwood police are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman, on the corner of Alice Street and Voortrekker Road, in Goodwood, on Saturday November 3, at 6pm.
