I am saddened to have learnt about the death of Councillor Cynthia Claasen.
She was a proportional representative councillor for the Democratic Alliance in Sub-council 2. She also served as a committee member on the Area Based Oversight Committee for Area 1 (North).
Ms Claasen lost her life after a long battle with cancer. She was truly a fighter, who often returned to work soon after bouts of chemotherapy because of the passion she had to serve her community. She will truly be missed.
I would like to express heartfelt condolences to her family on behalf of the City of Cape Town. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this time of bereavement.
Subcouncil 2 consists of six wards and covers an area that includes Scottsdene, Kraaifontein, Wallacedene, Brackenfell and the parts of Kuils River closest to the Bottelary farms and smallholdings, as well as parts of Bellville adjacent to Brackenfell and Kuils River.
