A 20-year-old man from Eerste River drowned in the Black River vicinity on Wednesday January 30.
Another 31-year-old man from Bobmakierie in Athlone was taken to hospital after he nearly drowned.
The two council workers were cleaning the river when a boat capsized.Â
An investigation into the incident is under way.
