Cops nab two hijackers

Kraaifontein police have arrested two suspected hijackers.

The 20-year-old man from Wallacedene and a 26-year-old woman from Bishop Lavis were arrested on Thursday June 28 when the anti-hijacking device in the car prevented if from starting, said Kraaifontein police station commander Brigadier Gerda van Niekerk

Later that same day, at about 11am, police arrested a 31-year-old Bloekombos man for hijacking a Blue Ribbon bread truck.

The suspect was carrying a 9mm Glock pistol with the serial number filed off. Brigadier Van Niekerk said the gun would be sent for testing to see if its owner could be traced or if it could be linked to other crimes.
