Cops makes arrest for robbery, car theft

Police arrested a man, 29, who allegedly robbed an elderly shack dweller in Monte Vistaat 9.30am on Saturday March 3.

Goodwood police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis said Warrant Officer Marius Swartz found the suspect hiding nearby and recovered the elderly man’s stolen money and ID book.

* A man, 27, was arrested in Anderson Street, Goodwood, on Tuesday February 27 for stealing a car.

The white Toyota Hilux was stolen in Voortrekker Road on Saturday February 17.

* Goodwood police are trying to trace the family of a man, 68, who died after being hit by a train at Goodwood station at about 9pm, on Friday December 8, last year.

The man was wearing a chequered shirt, a grey track top, black running shoes and navy trousers.

* Police arrested a suspected burglar on the corner of De La Rey Road and Joubert Street, in Parow, on Thursday March 8, at 6am.

Parow police spokesman Captain Kevin William said the man had been carrying two leather bags. Inside them were electrical equipment, a generator, a compressor, an espresso machine and a DVD player, all worth about R30 000.
