Cops investigate murder

A man was shot dead in the driveway of his Paarl Street home in Goodwood on Sunday evening.

Goodwood police spokesman, Captain Waynne Theunis, said the man’s wife, who was inside the house, heard gunshots at 7.30pm.

“His wife heard about four gunshots. She looked through a window and saw her husband behind the wheel of his i10 Hyundai.

“The man had three gunshots to the head and died at the scene. A white car was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting,” he said.

No arrests have been made and a murder case is being investigated.

Goodwood police arrested two men on Thursday August 2 for attempting to break into a house in Cambridge Street at 9.45pm.

“The woman was inside her house when she heard a noise at her window. She immediately called the police. Sergeants Jacquin Julies and Lucille Fortune responded to the call. On their arrival, the members saw three suspects at the window. The suspects then fled on foot, but the members managed to arrest two of them,” said Captain Theunis.

The officers found one of the windows had been broken.
